Chapter 9 - Dev Note 3

In the past, I had to render outdoor scenes in layers as Daz would crash on my PC when trying to load too many assets to render, not the case anymore as I can render outdoor scenes in one render now. However, I render outdoor scenes at 3820x2160 and then I resize down to 1980x1080, this helps to avoid white spots on the models. I'm sure there are other ways to avoid white spots but this is what has always worked for me.

After testing with 22 outdoor images in this chapter, I discovered renders in full were taken anywhere from 3.5 to 12 hours, it was crazy, such a wide range of times on the outdoor images. I think the reason was the new model (seen in the attached image), and rendering double resolution. In the end, turns out I'm better rendering the outdoor location in a layer (1920x1080) and the models at 3820x2160,

I wanted to see if there was a difference after discovering that indoor images were much quicker than before, don't know what Daz Studio developers have done, but the last update or two has really improved things for me. Of course, maybe doubling the size of the SSD I had could be the reason but don't think that would make such a big difference.

One last thing, I mentioned re-rendering the first 5 chapters, I won't need to rerender outdoor scenes as they're fine.
